Mt. Washingtin Hotel Wedding – Bretton Woods, NH

Congratulations to Michelle and Norris who got married this weekend at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH. If you’re shopping around for a venue to get married at, the Mount Washington Hotel is my absolute favorite venue in New England. For you and your guests, not only do you get one of the most breathtaking views (which makes a photographer’s job lots of fun ), there is also TONS of things to do for your guests if they’re going to stay for a few days. In the summer there’s golf, cycling, hiking, and across the road, zip lines at Bretton Woods Ski Area, and in the winter there’s cross country skiing, alpine skiing, and snowshoeing. If you like being outdoors, it’s the perfect spot! I have to admit I have a soft spot for Mount Washington as I’ve driven up it a number of times (I admit, that’s cheating), I’ve biked up it 3 times (best hill climb ever), and I’ve hiked it once (plan on doing it again this year). One of these days I hope to ski Tuckerman. That said, I was totally psyched when Michelle and Norris contacted me about shooting their wedding at the Mt. Washington Hotel! I had a total blast and didn’t want to stop shooting. It was a perfect night and when my time was up with them, I actually stayed for another hour to get some night shots of the hotel.

Can you tell I’m excited? Not only did I have the pleasure of shooting at Mt. Washington Hotel this weekend, but I also got a chance to work with a fantastic couple who know how to have fun. Norris even took to the stage to sit in on drums with Search Party to rock the reception (a phenomenal band BTW, this is coming from someone who went to a music college)!

Overlooking the Presidential Range, the Jewell Terrace at the historic Mount Washington Hotel gives you a view of Mt. Adams, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Clay, Mt. Monroe, Mt. Franklin, and of course Mt. Washington (amongst others).

What a gorgeous, magical place to have a wedding!

Cake by the Mount Washington Hotel. The band was Search Party. I get the opportunity to hear tons of bands. If you’re hiring a band (which I highly recommend) this band is one of just a few that should be on your A list!

Norris took to the stage to sit in on drums with the band Search Party (didn’t know he was a fellow drummer) and got the crowd moving!

Congratulations to Jennifer and Marc who got married at St. Francis Church in Dracut, MA followed by a reception in the EMC Club at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. I suppose if you’re a Red Sox fan, this is a pretty cool place to have a wedding reception! As far as a wedding photographer is concerned it certainly provides some nice backdrops.

If you're a Red Sox fan, or a fan of baseball in general this is quite the place to have your wedding or reception.

Jennifer and Matthew did an awesome job with the seating cards which look like Red Sox tickets.

St. Patrick’s Church and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse – Maine Wedding

Congratulations to Elizabeth and Matthew who got married at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle, Maine followed by wedding photos at the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and a reception in New Harbor, Maine.

As the plaque says, St. Patrick's located in Newcastle, Maine is the oldest surviving Roman Catholic church in New England.

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse located in Bristol, Maine is a gorgeous spot for wedding photos.

Congratulations to Sarah and Matthew who got married at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church followed by a reception at the beautiful Merrill House at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.

Event planners Clavin Kelly Events distribute sparklers at the end of the reception! It’s a minor detail but I’ve see SO many sparkler sendoffs go terribly wrong. What happens is someone puts the sparklers out, the guests get excited and light them all before the couple is ready to leave and by the time the couple does leave most of the sparklers have burned out. Having a wedding planner on the job really helps with making sure that the timing of a sparkler sendoff is done properly.
